From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Album Leaf is a pseudonym for Jimmy LaValle, formerly of The Black Heart Procession, Tristeza, The Locust, and GoGoGo Airheart.

The Album Leaf is the solo-project of Jimmy LaValle. His former work includes the ambient post-rock Tristeza, noise punk band The Locust, and epic-core group Black Heart Procession. With The Album Leaf, LaValle utilizes the elements of classical, ambient, jazz, and post-rock to form music that masterfully negotiates an even space between minimal electronic composition and mournful post-rock. Like many similar musicians in the genre, The Album Leaf uses white noise, field recordings, and radio transmissions to add to his work.

During the Fall of 2001, The Album Leaf opened for Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós during their US tour. During this tour, LaValle secured the use of Sigur Rós’ Icelandic studio for his third album, In a Safe Place, as well as the services of many of its band members.

On September 12, 2006, LaValle released his fourth album entitled Into the Blue Again on Sub Pop Records in North America. The album saw an earlier release in Germany (Sept. 8) and throughout the rest of Europe (Sept. 11) courtesy of City Slang Records.
